"Navigating the Path of Faith, Discovering God's Call Together"
vision of sacra nova
Empowering young adults to discern their vocations and deepen their faith, fostering a community where they can explore God's calling with courage and clarity.
mission of sacra nova
Our mission is to accompany young adults on their journey of discernment, providing them with spiritual guidance, resources, and support as they seek to discover God's plan for their lives. Through prayer, formation, and fellowship, we aim to create a vibrant community where young adults can grow in their relationship with Christ and discern how to live out their vocations in the world.
ministry strategies
Prayer and Spiritual Formation:
- Offer regular opportunities for young adults to deepen their prayer life through retreats, spiritual direction, and prayer groups.
- Provide formation sessions on discernment, Catholic teachings on vocation, and the importance of listening to God's voice in prayer.
- Encourage participation in liturgical events, such as Mass, adoration, and the sacrament of reconciliation, to foster spiritual growth and discernment.
- Organize social gatherings, service projects, and recreational activities to build a sense of community among young adults within the parish.
- Facilitate small groups where young adults can share their experiences, struggles, and joys in their discernment journey.
- Foster mentorship relationships between older adults who have experienced vocational discernment and young adults seeking guidance.
- Host workshops and seminars focused on vocational discernment, including discerning marriage, religious life, priesthood, and single life.
- Invite guest speakers, religious sisters and brothers, priests, and married couples to share their personal stories of discernment and vocation.
- Provide resources and guidance for discerning specific vocations, such as discernment retreats and literature on different paths of service within the Church.
- Reach out to young adults in the wider community through social media, parish events, and university outreach programs.
- Collaborate with campus ministries, Catholic schools, and youth groups to engage young adults in discernment opportunities.
- Offer evangelization events that invite young adults to encounter Christ in a welcoming and inclusive environment, inviting them to explore their faith and vocational calling.
- Assign a dedicated pastoral team or mentorship group to accompany young adults individually in their discernment process, providing personalized guidance and support.
- Establish a resource center or online platform with materials, articles, and videos on vocational discernment and Catholic teachings to support ongoing formation and reflection.
- Offer pastoral counseling and support for young adults facing challenges or doubts in their discernment journey, connecting them with appropriate resources and assistance.
What is "Ministry with Young Adults"?
In the model of Christ, the Good Shepherd, this is the Church's pastoral care and accompaniment of men and women in their late teens, twenties, and thirties through community, evangelization and catechesis, prayer and spirituality, leadership development, and engagement in the social mission of the Gospel.
Through intentional pastoral ministry with young adults, "The Church can offer young adults a vision of life based on faith that calls each of them to holiness, community, and service" (Sons and Daughters of the Light). "In this way, by learning from one another, we can better reflect that wonderful multifaceted reality that Christ's Church is meant to be." (Christus Vivit).
